2017 seems set to be an action-packed year at the cinema. With numerous blockbusters due for release this year, movie fanatics will be spoiled for choice. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise drops its fifth installment on July 7, 2017.
Starring Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush and Kevin McNally, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has a budget said to be above $350 million and is the second film of the franchise to be shot digitally.
Johnny Depp reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, the eccentric pirate captain of the Black Pearl on the hunt for the Trident of Poseidon, which bestows control over the seas.
In the film, Jack Sparrow is pursued by an old rival, Captain Salazar, who along with his crew of ghost pirates has escaped from the Devil’s Triangle, and is determined to kill every pirate at sea. Jack seeks the Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that grants its possessor total control over the seas, in order to defeat Salazar.
In the trailer, Salazar tells a young man to find Jack Sparrow and inform him that death is coming for him. The young man in question is the grown son of Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner. Henry is looking for his father, who may be living all this time as Davy Jones.
Principal photography began on , Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in Australia in February 2015.
The film was directed by Joachim Renning and Espen Sandberg.
Brenton Thwaites is a new addition to the cast lead, along with Javier Bardem, who plays the villain of the franchise to be a ghost.
Keira Knightley returns for a small role during the end credits, while Orlando Bloom returns as Will Turner.
As a popular Disney franchise, the film is expected to have a PG-13 rating.
