Give it a swing (November 2015)
In small town villages such as Clarens where fires do occur, whether veld or home, it’s always reassuring to know there are dedicated teams as part of the Clarens Fire Association (CFA) to swiftly attend to the matter.
In small town villages such as Clarens where fires do occur, whether veld or home, it’s always reassuring to know there are dedicated teams as part of the Clarens Fire Association (CFA) to swiftly attend to the matter. And as much as they play an important part in the community so can the community return the favour through the attendance and involvement at the CFA annual fundraising Golf Day in November.
The fund raising event assists the CFA to continue functioning at their current levels more importantly during the fire season. They have been able to react quickly to fire reports. And although the fire team’s main costs are covered by the government programme, all the costs of running the vehicle and the base have to be funded by the CFA.
The main sponsor for the Golf Day is OFM, who are usually in attendance at the event. With the stations favourite DJ’s that the community has come to know and love as special guests, and also broadcast live from the event whilst entertaining the golf participants and guests with their music. The events venue is at the Golf Clubhouse found on the Clarens Golf and Trout Estate. Come out and support the fundraising initiative as you tee off and practice your golf swing on the country style 18-hole golf course.
After a day of golf all golfers are treated with a well-deserved massage, prizes offered to winning teams, and there’s even a category for the best dressed golf team.
