The new Pokémon Go that has millions of people worldwide glued to their phones, is an augmented reality game that was inspired by another AR game called Ingress. Running on Android or iOS phones, Pokémon Go is an exciting game that has people enthralled with the idea of catching a whole bunch of Pokémon, getting to evolve them and improve their skills as Pokémon trainers.
The secrets to a Pokémon upgrade often lie in how consistent you are when it comes to catching certain types of Pokémon, as well as your level of stardusts and candies.
You can get Stardusts and candies whenever you catch, hatch or transfer Pokémon. Evolution however, requires a different amount of Candy for each species.
When you catch a Pokémon you’ll gain Stardust and a Pokémon-specific candy.
You’ll need both items to level up and evolve your Pokémon.
Focus more on your stardust gauge. Once you’ve reached the mark, just press the power up option.
The easiest way to evolve your Pokémon is to catch a bunch of the same Pokémon until your Candy gauge is filled. You’ll need to use the transfer option first. Then you press the evolve option in the Pokémon’s page.
Remember that catching duplicate Pokémon will help your original evolve. To improve your Pokémon’s level, you need about 1-4 pieces of candy and 200-2000 bits of stardust.
Steps for a Pokémon upgrade:
- Tip the Pokeball in the centre of the screen
- Tap on the Pokémon button
- Select the Pokémon you wish to level up or evolve
Why you’ll need to upgrade:
A Pokémon upgrade makes it easier for when you’ll be fighting at gyms for your team and XP bonuses to raise your own trainer level. It also gives you access to more entries in your Pokedex.
