Of the three national capital cities in South Africa Bloemfontein is not necessarily known for its cultural festivities much like Cape Town and Pretoria not unless its annual Mangaung African Cultural Festival “Macufe 2015” comes around.
Gear up for a blooming good time at the 10 day festival taking place from 2-11October at various locations around Bloemfontein.
This year marks 18 years that the festival has been running. Expect a showcase of African arts and culture in various disciplines from theatre, comedy, a concert with a huge line up of international and local acts representing music from all genres you can think of including jazz and even gospel, as well as sports in the form of the Sparta Macufe Cup.
Although this year’s theme hasn’t been announced yet one thing that does remain constant about the festival is that it attracts big names in the local music industry that are billed to perform as well as their international counterparts, also not forgetting the friendly soccer match between Bloemfontein Celtic and Kaizer Chiefs, which is a much anticipated highlight at the festival.
The festival is also known for its offering of a food court with a full beer garden, as well as the Macufe’s Arts and Craft market that features over 80 exhibitors from all over the country you can shop to buy their goods or view how they made right there on site!
Tickets are sold based on the individual event you’re interested in seeing so come make your mark and don’t miss out on a chance to be part of one of the biggest festivals on the African continent.
