Studies have shown that the mobile market on the African continent is growing at a rapid rate. More people on the continent have access to or own a cellphone. This has created a range of opportunities for mobile operators. While the majority of cellphone users have a prepaid cellphone, in South Africa, the market for cellphone contracts is growing.
As the black middle class continues to grow, it’s expected that the demand for cellphone contracts in South Africa will increase.
Major cellular networks Vodacom, MTN, Cell C and Telkom all offer their own range of cellphone contracts in South Africa.
According to Tariffic CEO Antony Seeff, there are currently over 10 000 combinations of packages and bundles available in South Africa across the four major networks. The structure of the various cellphone contracts in South Africa makes it difficult to compare them on a like-for-like basis.
“Reducing the amount of options per contract range would make it easier for consumers to decide which deals suit them best.”
Trying to decide which cellphone contract would suit you best can be a tricky process. But it essentially depends on your individual needs and what you can afford to pay every month.
You could search on the various cellphone operator network websites to compare different packages.
Or you could check on different forums to view customer complaints and compliments.
Another option involves the use of a comparison site. The good news is that Hippo.co.za recently added an option to compare mobile contracts in April 2016.
In partnership with mobile phone optimisation service, Tariffic, the comparison is available in the Home & Utilities category.
“There is currently no other service that offers South Africans such a detailed comparison service and we are thrilled to be the first to offer this to Hippo.co.za’s visitors,” said Derek Wilson, Head of Hippo.co.za.
