What are eBucks?
This is a South African multi-partner rewards programme offered by one of the country’s biggest banking institutions, First National Bank. The rewards programme allows you to earn and spend eBucks at various merchants nationwide.
In July 2015, FNB partnered with Uber, which is an application that allows users to find a taxi nearby and to pay for the service by debit or credit card. The mobile app’s penetration inti the South African market has created an opportunity for FNB to give its clients more value for their money.
The bank, which has been considered the most innovative bank in the country, continues to make considerable inroads into the digital banking sector, effectively transforming the way that South Africans bank.
Uber has provided South Africans with a seamless connection by connecting riders to drivers through smartphone technology. It’s a convenient mode of transport and demand continues to grow at a rapid pace.
The deal between Uber and FNB:
South African FNB clients will earn loyalty points, eBucks, by using the Uber app.
Standard eBucks rules and features apply, such as the opportunity to earn up to 15% back in ebucks when you use your FNB card. Your eBucks discount will depend on your reward level.
In addition, FNB has offered clients the chance to receive R200 off their first Uber trip by signing up through the eBucks website.
How it works:
- You download the free application for Android, iPhone or Blackberry.
- Use the promotional code “eBucks” to get R200 off your first ride.
Available 24 hours a day, the service is available in major cities in the country including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
