Why Charizard is such a Popular Pokémon Card

20 years after the release of the first Pokémon game, the franchise is experiencing a revival in 2016 through the Pokémon trading card game and Pokémon Go.

Pokémon trading card game is becoming increasingly popular with fans across the world.

When playing the trading card game you use your Pokémon of choice to knock out six of your opponent’s Pokémon, claiming six prize cards to win the game. More Pokémon players are trading cards enjoying battling using their cards, whether rare or common.

Each card represents a type of Pokémon with its own unique abilities.

One of the most sought-after cards in the set is Charizard, with the first edition being a collectors’ item.

Why Charizard is such a popular Pokémon card:

Charizard Star is a dark type Charizard that is for hardcore collectors. The main attack is dark swirl and the card does 150 damage.

Charizard G LV.X is a first generation starter. This fire-breathing dragon is a fan favourite. By attaching it to a Charizard G, you have the option if using any previous attack, Poke Body or Poke Power.

Charizard G LV. X’s Poke Power allows him to move energy cards onto your Charizard. It also does a staggering 150 damage.

This card doesn’t have a rarity symbol in the bottom right corner, signifying whether the Pokémon is common, uncommon or rare.

According to Mashable, “the next highest price for a single Pokémon card is $30 000 for a Japanese holographic Charizard with a 10 rating from Professional Sports Authenticator.”

This just goes to show how valuable the Charizard card is. The Pokémon franchise reportedly makes an estimated revenue of $290 million per month and there is no doubt that a large portion of this revenue comes from the sale of valuable cards like Charizard.
