South African consumers of Microsoft products and anywhere in the world will only get free upgrades to Windows 10 for the first year when the operating system launches. This is according to Terry Meyer, an executive vice President of the company’s operating systems.
This free upgrade will be available to Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 users. If a device is upgraded, the giant tech company will keep it current for the specified period and after that they have to pay for any future upgrades.
“You can think of Windows as one of the largest internet services on the planet,” said Myerson.
He added, “We will continue to support the way Windows works today, with long term branches and long term support.”
Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational corporation with headquarters in Redmond Washington.
