Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has announced the release of its next smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 6, for April 2017.
In a market that is largely dominated by Apple and Samsung, Xiaomi has its work cut out for it. New smartphone technology is being released daily and consumers are demanding more impressive features with each new product released.
The device is rumoured to have a Home Button that is embedded in the software like other Android phones. More smartphone manufacturers are following this trend, and Xiaomi Mi6 is no different.
Rumours also suggest that the fingerprint scanner will be replaced will be replaced with a retina scanner that can be used for unlocking the phone and making secure mobile payments.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to be made available with two display variants- 5.5 and 5.7 inches. The 8mm thick phone will house a 1920x 1080p HD display, encased in Gorilla Glass 4.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, the flagship will likely have 6GB of RAM.
One of the negative aspects that come with owning a smartphone is the poor battery life. This is something that more smartphone manufactures are trying to combat. With a 4000mAh battery, the Xiaomi Mi6 is expected to have impressive battery life, along with fast, wireless charging.
With 64GB storage, the device will also have a dual SIM option, as well as a USB Type-C slot.
The phone may feature a metal body, a curved display and a ceramic back, while rumours also suggest that the phone will follow the latest smartphone trends and will have a high screen-to-body ratio.
A 7MP camera at the front and 12MP rear camera will feature on the device.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 is set to launch on April 16, 2017.
